Remote Coaching & Strength Training Community FAQ
What is the difference between your in-person physical therapy and your remote training programs?
In-person physical therapy is a licensed healthcare service provided directly within a clinical setting. It involves evaluation, diagnosis, and individualized treatment of injury or dysfunction, delivered in accordance with applicable state licensure laws.
Remote programming (Strength Chasers online community membership) and 1:1 fitness and rehab coaching, on the other hand, are fitness and performance-based services delivered digitally. These programs are not clinical physical therapy and do not include diagnosis, medical evaluation, or hands-on treatment. Instead, they are designed to improve strength, performance, movement capacity, and general resilience through structured training systems.
While both may share movement-based principles, they are fundamentally different services with different purposes, delivery methods, and legal scope.
Do your remote programs count as physical therapy?
No. Remote programming is not physical therapy and does not replace in-person clinical care.
Even though programming may be designed by a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, all remote offerings are strictly educational and performance-based. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or manage medical conditions.
If you require medical evaluation, hands-on treatment, or injury-specific clinical care, that must be done in person with a qualified healthcare provider.
Who are the remote training programs for?
The remote programs are designed for individuals who want structured strength training with clear progression, whether their goal is performance, general fitness, or returning to higher-level activity.
They are especially useful for people who:
Want accountability and direction without full 1:1 clinical care
Want a clear plan instead of guessing in the gym
Prefer structured progression over random workouts
Are transitioning out of rehab and into performance training
How are the training programs structured?
All remote programs follow a progressive overload model organized into structured training blocks lasting approximately 6–8 weeks.
Within each block:
- Weekly updates are made to adjust intensity, progressions, or small training variables
- The goal is to build measurable adaptation rather than constantly changing exercises every week
- You have access to our chat community and our coaches for any and all questions about the program or exercises
This approach is intentional. Frequent program changes often reduce training continuity and limit strength or tissue adaptation.
How many days per week do the programs include?
You can choose from three structured training options depending on your lifestyle, preferences, and goals:
- 3-day training split
- 4-day training split
- 5-day training split
Each version is designed to scale training volume appropriately while maintaining recovery, progression, and long-term consistency. Each exercise has an “at home” swap that requires only dumbbells and exercise bands if you prefer not to go to a gym!
Do the programs change every week?
The exercise structure does not change drastically every week.
Instead, the programs are built around consistent movement patterns over 6–8 week blocks, with subtle weekly adjustments to variables such as:
- Repetitions
- Load targets
- Tempo
- Set volume or intensity
This structure is used intentionally to maximize progressive overload, which is one of the primary drivers of strength and performance adaptation.
What equipment do I need?
Most programs are designed to be flexible and can be performed in a typical commercial gym. However, each exercise will be paired with an at home version where you only need dumbells and exercise bands!
In general, you should expect to need access to:
- Basic free weights (dumbbells and/or barbells)
- Cable machines or resistance alternatives
- A squat or rack setup (depending on program level)
If you are training in a more limited environment, modifications are suggested for you in the app.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes. A free trial may be offered for select programs or memberships.
If available, the trial is managed through a third-party billing and subscription platform. This means:
- Trial access is governed by that platform’s system
- Billing transitions automatically unless cancelled prior to the trial ending
- Cancellation must be completed through the same platform used for signup
We do not control or manage the technical billing infrastructure directly, so it is your responsibility to confirm cancellation if you do not wish to continue after the trial period.
Do I have to wait for a new training block to start?
No. You do not need to wait for a new training block to begin.
When you join the Remote Training Community, you gain immediate access to the current training cycle and begin exactly where the system is at that point in time. You’ll plug into the existing 6–8 week structure and follow the programming as it’s already in motion.
From there, you continue seamlessly into the next phase of the block as updates are released weekly, ensuring progression stays continuous without interruption or “resetting” your training timeline.
The system is designed so you can start at any time without losing effectiveness or needing to wait for a specific onboarding date.
In-Person Physical Therapy Services FAQ
What does out-of-network mean?
We don’t accept traditional insurance, as traditional PT is constrained by insurance-mandated visit lengths or treatment protocols. This allows us to keep the entire session directly 1:1 with you, providing undivided attention, and a more thorough, personalized treatment plan. In-network clinics often require therapists to see multiple patients at once to meet quotas, which can result in less than optimal care. With more one-on-one time and freedom from insurance restrictions, your physical therapist can focus on addressing the root cause of your issue, not just the symptoms. With cash-based therapy, you know the exact cost upfront. There are no surprise bills, hidden co-pays, or complex deductibles to navigate. You can say goodbye to the frustration of dealing with insurance paperwork, pre-authorizations, and claim denials. We can also provide you with a “superbill,” which is an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Depending on your out-of-network benefits, you may be able to get a portion of your costs covered. We do accept FSA and HSA for our 90-day performance plans, however!
What is concierge physical therapy?
In a traditional clinic, your treatment is confined to a single, often busy, location. In a mobile clinic, the focus is entirely on you. Your therapist brings the equipment and expertise to a location that works best for your recovery—whether it’s a dedicated training space, a quiet park, or your own home gym. This personalized setting allows for more effective, real-world-based treatment. With a mobile clinic, you save valuable time and energy that would otherwise be spent commuting to and from appointments, finding parking, and waiting to be seen. This convenience makes it easier to stay consistent with your treatment plan, which is crucial for a successful recovery.
How long are your in-person sessions?
Our 60-minute sessions provides the time and space to build a strong, collaborative relationship with your therapist. You can openly discuss your concerns, ask questions, and feel heard. This partnership and mutual trust are key to staying motivated and committed to your recovery journey, leading to better long-term outcomes. By focusing on quality over quantity, we can achieve more in fewer visits. The combination of in-depth assessment, hands-on treatment, and direct patient education means you make more progress in each session. This often translates to a faster recovery and fewer overall appointments, which saves you both time and money in the long run.
What are the hybrid plans?
The traditional model of physical therapy often ends when you walk out the clinic door, leaving a critical gap between in-person sessions as a significant portion of your recovery happens outside of the clinic. Our hybrid treatment model is designed to close that gap and provide continuous support, ensuring you are always on the right path to recovery. By combining in-person sessions with remote coaching and exercise check-ins, we can maximize the value of every visit. In-person time is focused on hands-on treatment and fine tuning movement patterns, while remote coaching can expand on exercise progression and check-ins. This efficient use of time often means you need fewer in-person visits to achieve your goals, leading to a more cost-effective treatment plan overall.
Do I need a referral from my primary doctor?
In North Carolina, direct access laws allow you to see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. However, even with direct access, some insurance companies still require a referral to provide out-of-network reimbursement. It is best to check with your insurance provider to see if you qualify for reimbursement for out-of-network providers.
Can I get a consultation to see if this is right for me?
Absolutely. We offer a complimentary performance planning session with a Doctor of Physical Therapy to discuss your specific needs and answer any questions you may have about our treatment model. This gives you the opportunity to meet the therapist, understand our approach, and decide if our services are a good fit for your health and wellness goals, all with no obligation.
How will I know how many sessions I will need?
During your initial evaluation, we will discuss your goals and create a clear, personalized roadmap and treatment plan. Based on our clinical expertise and your specific condition, we will give you a realistic estimate of the number of sessions and the timeline for your recovery. While this is an estimate, it provides a transparent roadmap so you know what to expect. Because our model is so efficient, many patients find they reach their goals in fewer sessions than they would at an in-network clinic.
What if I’ve had physical therapy before and it didn’t work?
Many patients who felt a traditional clinic failed them find success in our model. The traditional high-volume, insurance-based model can push for a quick discharge as soon as your acute symptoms have subsided. This leaves a critical gap where you might feel better, but the underlying issues have not been fully addressed and keep you in the never-ending cycle of recurring pain.
Our approach is different. We don’t just treat the pain; we focus on building a resilient, long-term solution. Our 60-minute, one-on-one sessions are designed to move beyond symptom relief and into true rehabilitation and injury prevention. We will work with you to not only resolve your current issue but also to equip you with the knowledge and strength to avoid the cycle of pain and re-injury, ensuring you can return to the activities you love for years to come. We also focus heavily on patient education, ensuring you understand your condition and are empowered to take an active role in your recovery.
